The State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, commonly known as State Life or SLIC, (Urdu: ہیَیت دولتِ پاکستان برائے پالیسی کاریِ زندگی) is the largest life insurance company of Pakistan, and is one of the largest companies in Pakistan by assets. It maintains an agency network of around 200,000 sales personnel. Although the major function of SLIC is to carry out life insurance business, it is also involved in other business activities such as investment of policyholders’ fund in government securities, stock market and real estate.
The State Life is headed by a chairman, currently Shoaib Javed Hussain. The chairman is assisted by four directors. The chairman and directors of State Life are all appointed by the Government of Pakistan. The Principal Office of State Life is situated in Karachi, Pakistan.

Age Limit: Maximum 58 years
Qualifications:
- LLB with at least 15 years of Bar experience
- LLM is considered an additional qualification
- Must be a registered member of High Court
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage corporate and legal affairs
- Provide legal support to Board of Directors and Senior Management
- Draft and review agreements
- Conduct legal research and manage litigation strategy
- Safeguard SLIC’s legal interests
- Liaise with advocates and regulatory bodies
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
Board Secretary (BSD):
Age Limit: Maximum 50 years
Qualifications:
- Member of a recognized professional body of accountants (CA, FCMA, FCCA)
- OR Chartered secretaries
- OR Master’s Degree in business, finance, commerce, or law with 5 years of experience (preferably in the insurance sector)
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage corporate governance and regulatory compliance
- Prepare Board agendas, minutes, and papers
- Ensure recording and implementation of board proceedings
- Liaise with regulatory bodies for timely submission of reports and documentation
- Provide legal, financial, and strategic advice
